Did you know that Spring and Summer months are the slowest for food donations? Summer can be one of the hardest times for families facing food insecurity. While the need continues to grow, donations slow down. Many households in Halton Region depend on local food support services and we need your help to keep our neighbours fed this season.
Hunger Doesn’t Take A Break is a community-wide initiative to support local food banks, community organizations and meal programs, raising awareness that food insecurity is an issue all year round.
We need your help to collect priority food items and funds to help our neighbours in need.
You can help support local families by donating most-needed items like:
- Canned proteins (fish, meat)
- Canned vegetables
- Rice
- Personal hygiene products
- Household cleaning products
- Granola bars (Peanut free)
- Crackers
- Juice
- Soup
- Cereal (Hot & cold)
You can drop items off at local food banks, as well as at participating grocery stores. Click here to find our directory map of Halton food support services near you. Visit organization websites for their hours and most needed items.
