Food Insecurity is Growing

FeedHalton’s purpose is to increase capacity, security and stability in Halton’s food systems and ensure that all of our food bank and community service partners’ needs are met with enough supplies to serve their clients.

HOW IT WORKS

Growing Need

Our organization was developed and launched in 2023 in response to community needs and the growing pressure on food bank agencies in Halton. It is estimated that approximately 12% of Halton’s population is experiencing severe to moderate levels of food insecurity.

FeedHalton has created the necessary infrastructure to address the projected food distribution shortfall with adequate resources and efficient utilization of those resources.

We service our Agency Network partners with needed food and collect sector-wide data to better understand hunger in Halton and sustainably address and advocate for food security.

Our Agency Network of partners includes food banks, food rescue organizations and smaller community food programs that deliver unique services to people including meal programs.

FeedHalton is an organizing entity, designed to benefit all and ultimately address broader food insecurity.

We anticipate that with our delivery and operations model, FeedHalton will be able to supply a significant portion of every participating food organization’s needs.
